Take Control of Your Home Energy

What is HEMS?

Combined Energy HEMS reduces your total cost of electricity by coordinating connected appliances and energy storage devices in your home to make the best use of available solar power.

The Home Energy Management System (HEMS) monitors appliances in real-time and makes regular adjustments to match your solar production as closely as possible during the day.

How it works

Combined Energy HEMS is designed to minimize your total energy costs by:

  • Maximizing solar self-consumption
  • Preferentially using the cheapest grid energy
  • Analyzing home energy usage patterns
  • Intelligently managing solar export limits

The system continuously monitors your home's power consumption in real-time. It dynamically adjusts the settings of connected appliances to closely match solar production during daylight hours and shifts energy-intensive tasks to periods when electricity rates are lowest.

a Combined Energy EMU

The Combined Energy EMU (Energy Management Unit) is the brains of the system, connecting to your home's internet and communicating with your appliances via the existing electrical wiring.

The EMU monitors your energy consumption, gathers weather and energy price data, and optimizes the use of solar and grid power for your appliances.

Smart Energy Management

The Combined Energy system helps you save on electricity by using smart technology to manage your home’s energy use. Here’s a simple breakdown of how it works:

Energy Management Unit (EMU): This is the brain of our system. It connects to your home’s internet and communicates with your appliances through the existing electrical wiring. The EMU analyzes your energy usage, checks weather and energy price information, and helps your appliances use solar and grid energy in the best way.

Power Meter: Installed at your electrical switchboard, this device monitors your grid and solar energy usage in real-time. It provides important data to the EMU, which helps manage your energy consumption efficiently.

Powerline Communications: Our devices use your home’s electrical wiring to communicate, so there’s no need for extra wiring. This ensures easy integration of connected appliances like the Solahart PowerStore® water heater and other smart devices.

Smart Features: The system includes features like power monitoring, solar production tracking, battery optimization, export limiting, and EV charge management. These features work together to maximize your solar energy use, manage your battery storage, and ensure you’re using grid energy at the cheapest times.

With Combined Energy, managing your home’s energy is simple, efficient, and smart.
